Teacher Information and Referral Process

Dear Music Educator:

As you scroll down this page, you will find a variety of useful links at the end.

Thank you for visiting our website and for taking the time to learn more about Tacoma Youth Chorus. I know from my teaching experience that there are students who have a deep love and passion for music and singing. Tacoma Youth Chorus provides a place for musically gifted children to meet others like themselves and to devote extra time and focus to the mastery of choral music skills. Participation in Tacoma Youth Chorus provides the additional training and performance opportunities for the student who brings back this training to his or her school program.

For twenty years, Tacoma Youth Chorus has been a leader in extracurricular music training. Students grow in the development of their vocal ability, deepen their understanding of the teamwork required to be a part of a musical ensemble, and increase in confidence as a singer.

Tacoma Youth Chorus singers perform in four full scale concerts throughout the year with additional, smaller family-oriented concerts as well. In addition, we provide exciting learning and performing opportunities such as Tacoma Opera productions, singing with the Tacoma Symphony Orchestra, and guest directors such as Henry Leck, Rollo Dilworth, Jo-Michael Scheibe and David Flood of Canterbury Cathedral.

If you have highly motivated singers who can match pitch and have a cooperative attitude, we would love to hear from them!

We have developed a DVD about our program so that you might learn more about us. If you would like a personal copy to share with parents or colleagues, please call us at 253.588.1391. We would be happy to mail one to you. This video is also available on our home page and you may also watch it by clicking on the link provided below.

Biographies of our music staff are available below as are a description of past performances and collaborations. We hope to have a discography online soon so that you might hear music we have performed.

All music educators have a standing invitation to attend our concerts or rehearsals. For complimentary concert tickets, please call our office, identify yourself as a teacher, and we will provide you with tickets for yourself and a guest.

I am always happy to hear from my colleagues; please call if you any questions. And thank you for your support of Tacoma Youth Chorus and the young people we serve!

Sincerely,
