Dr. Geoffrey Boers is Director of Choral Activities at the University of Washington in Seattle, a program widely recognized as forward thinking, unique, and of great distinction. Since his tenure at the University of Washington, the choral program has become a leader in promoting the performance, study and exchange of Baltic music in the United States. In addition he has served as artist-in-residence in Toronto, Ontario, Mainz, Germany, as well as Seoul, Korea with the world-renowned choir the Incheon City Chorale. In addition to his position at the UW, Boers sings professionally and is the conductor of the Tacoma Symphony Chorus.
We are gearing up for this summer’s international tour with an informational meeting this evening and tour choir rehearsals beginning in April.
Members of TYC Chorale have the opportunity to tour internationally every three years, and our next tour is in July 2017. Singers will spend eleven days touring and performing in Strasbourg, the Rhine region, Zurich, Canterbury and London. These tours are always the highlight of a singer’s time with TYC and the excitement is building!
Sunday January 29 will be our second annual Family Day of Song!
At this multi-generational event, TYC artistic staff will lead you in fun, accessible group singing. (Last year there was even folk dancing!)
Bring your neighbor, your best friend, your little brother or your grandma… all are invited to join in the singing. (Snacks provided, and no tickets needed.)
